Former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly and governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the state’s 2016 Governorship election, Victor Olabintan, has been reportedly kidnapped in Nigeria's capital city, Abuja.
According to Gboyega Ajayi, Secretary of the Olabintan Campaign Organization, he was kidnapped on his way to Abuja from Akure, the capital of Ondo on Monday.
Mr. Ajayi said the APC chieftain was kidnapped at Kwali after he was flagged down at a military checkpoint by fake soldiers who turned out to be kidnappers.
Hon Olabintan's abduction came barely 48 hours after he declared his intention to run for office the governor of Ondo State on the platform of the APC.
According to Mr Ajayi, police personnel in Abuja are currently on the kidnappers’ trail.

The rate at which robbers and kidnappers use police and army uniforms to deceive and rob, rape and kidnap innocent Nigerians these days is becoming alarming. Nigeria police should rise to the challenge.
