If there’s one thing that sets ever stunning actress, Tayo Sobola apart, it’s her distinct roles as portrayed in movies like Bella, Arewa Onijongbon, Corper Jide and Eje Aburo Mi. Sotayo recently raised the bar when she unveiled Sotee Entertainment to mark her birthday on December 28 in grand style.

In this interview with The Sun's Fatunmise Damilola, she opened up on some issues about herself.

Who is Sotayo?
My real name is Tayo Sobola‎. I’m popularly known as Sotayo. Some people call me Bella, which comes from a movie in which I acted were I had tribal marks.‎

What is Sotee Entertainment all about?
At Sotee Entertainment we do a whole lot of things including advertising and editing. We also do photo shoots and very soon, I’m going to be unveiling our TV programme dedicated to charity. We have a lot of things that we do that people don’t even get to hear about. It’s only what you see or hear that you know so right now, we are actually going to be spreading our tentacles.

What inspired it?
What prompted this was the desire to define my game so people could actually know what I do and reach me. This is my 11th year in entertainment and I’ve been doing a whole lot so people know me for different things and they keep asking, what does she really do? That’s why I decided to settle for movie making.

You said acting can’t sustain you yet you pursue it with a passion. Why?
That’s what passion does to you. Passion is what you do with ease not minding the benefits thereof.‎ If you’re doing something just for money, you can never be successful .For crying out loud, if I’m doing this without having passion for it I’d be wasting my time.

Are you saying acting is not lucrative?
For real it’s not and that’s because of piracy. Little wonder Mercy Aigbe opened a boutique, Bimbo Thomas runs a wine shop and Biodun Okeowo is doing her own stuff and the list goes on and on.

Back to movies, what’s the next project from Sotee entertainment?
I just finished a project, entitled Iwa Ose Meji. My fans should keep their fingers crossed, it’s coming out soonest.

You seem to have so much love for tattoos, how many do you have?
I have four and I’m done. I have two on my hand, one on my leg and the other on my back.‎

Could you reveal the secrets that have sustained you in the industry?
They are humility, perseverance, loyalty and of course, faithfulness.

In a recent chat with a reporter, Alaba said: "I almost dated one actor/movie director, but I got my fingers burnt because his girlfriend then, Bisi Ibidapo-Obe caught us and dealt with me seriously; I still have the marks on me.

"It was the popular actor/movie director who asked me out and we got very close. But before we could get any further, Bisi, who was one of his girlfriends, came to meet me at a movie location in Abeokuta. On that day, I just had my bath and was just coming out of the bathroom; in fact, I was just tying my towel. She was so furious and started shouting that I should leave her boyfriend alone! But before I could say anything, she had brought out a syringe from her back and stabbed me several times in the buttock. I was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital. But I thank God I survived it."

When asked if the case was reported to the police, the actress said; "No, it was resolved by the elders in the industry. She was asked to apologize and she did. But we are no more friends. Her so-called boyfriend never reckoned with her afterwards. She thought I was the one preventing her from having a swell time with the guy, but she didn’t know it was another actress."

You have not been in public scenes for a while, what happened?
This is simply because my life has changed. I got married, separated, and have a child. I am re branding myself and that is why I have left the public scene. That doesn’t really mean I have left showbiz but only took some time out for my family. I am fully back but not as the former Uche Iwuji, I am a new Uche Iwuji.

What's the difference between old and new Uche Iwuji?
I have always been involved in one scandal or the other. That will change because Uche is now a mother who wants the best for her son.

What are those things you really want to change?
I used to go out a lot, I was always every where.

So, you mean that has always landed you in trouble?
No, it does not put me in any form of trouble. It only made people know who I was. Then, I was single so it is allowed. I am now a mother, things must change.

Your experience as a single mother?
It is not easy; I must confess. I have to be there for my son who will be three this year. I have my businesses that has been footing our bills. I hang out with single mothers like myself. I thank God that every one is showing me love. However, a man settles your bill when you are married but that has changed because I fend for myself and my child. Nobody is asking for my account now (laughs).

Is it true that men take advantage of single mothers?
No, I don’t think it is true because that has not happened to me.

What has been married and single taught you?
I have learnt to be strong for myself. Separating from my husband was not a good thing at all. Though, an eye opener. As far as I am concerned, being single again is fun. I am free to do whatever I like. I have been able to get over the break up when I look at my son. He is a bundle of joy.

How did you meet your husband?
No way. I don’t want to talk about that.

What went wrong in your marriage?
The marriage failed because we didn’t understand each other well.

Your courtship was for three months, do you think that could be another factor?
Not really, I still respect and love my ex husband till date. In fact, I still pray for him.

Does that mean you will accept him if he comes back?
Yes, I will a million times. He is the best gift I have ever gotten.

Who do you have to blame for your break up; media, choice of career or your family members?
I blame it on the society. People were always saying rubbish about me. However, I advise intending celebrity couples to understand each other well and shun third party.

Do you think your marriage affected your career?
Yes, in a positive way. People now see me as a matured woman. Some still address me as a Mrs. It only boosted my career.

Do you think this will affect your child?
I thank God for my child. Sometimes, when I even talk about his father, he just says “mummy don’ t talk about him”. They communicate on phone. He also calls me because I have a child with him.

Is it true you are unlucky with men as purported online?
Yes , I'm not that lucky with men but I think I was lucky at a point. To have been married to my ex husband means luck was smiling at me. We only didn’t understand each other well.

Do you have any plan to remarry?
No way. I will marry my ex-husband a million times again. No other man is good for me. I believe he will come back when he is ready.

How do you intend to manage sex in his absence?
I am s*x starved for now but I don’t really long for it. I have been without s*x for a while now.
